That’s the theme for this week I’d say. On Monday, the weather was pleasant and I thought to myself I needed an excursion. I was heading towards to the ruins of Browlands stone circle at Garmouth [TMA] but as soon as I started driving, I decided to go to the Bin of Cullen instead.

It was my first time climbing the hill (320 metres). The colours of the brown ferns and the green firs are just lovely. I love Scotland. It didn’t take too long to the top and was a decent stroll for my ankle. I had two young kids in front off me setting a cracking pace with their dad. At the top he said he was surprised they made it all the way up!

The view from the Bin is pretty special. You have a 360 view. I could pick out Tap o’Noth, Dunr Hill and Knock. Peakfinder gives many more, including some hefty hills in the Cairngorms.

I busied about looking at rocks and wondering if there was a hillfort up there. It would’ve been windy! Then I tootled down and what was nice was that I met a lot of kids coming up the hill. After school? Perhaps not that young, but anyway it was nice to see young people enjoying the hill 🙂

Funny how sometimes you don’t know where you want to go until you start the journey.
